Goodbye Mary

On Saturday I was putting the finishing touches on a birthday card that I was making for a friend. June 28 was her birthday and we all knew it would be her last. She had made the decision to not continue her chemo treatments. I finished her card on Saturday and then received the news that she had passed away on Sunday. I began to make another card. A sympathy card. Sympathy cards are not hard to make if you're just making up random cards ahead of time with no one in particular in mind. When you are making the card with someone specific in mind it becomes a difficult task. I finally managed to get the card done today. I mailed it to her daughter today, along with the birthday card. They will be having a memorial service on June 28, Mary's birthday. It seemed fitting that the card I made for her birthday should be sitting there for the memorial service. I hope the cards bring a smile to your face as you look down on us all. So long Mary, for now.
Inside verse reads: "friends are flowers in the garden of life" which seemed so appropriate since she's made so many friends in the last few years. It's evident on the Facebook walls of her page and her daughter's page. The outpouring of emotions has been tremendous. The materials used on these cards were items in my stash. To be honest I wasn't really paying attention to what brands I was using. I just wanted things to look pretty. If there is a particular item that you would like to know the source, please just ask and I'll see if I can backtrack for you.

Websters Pages Warehouse Sale is on!

Twice a year Webster's Pages has a warehouse sale. For any of you who are not familiar with these, they are a box that is jam packed with crafting yummies! For $25.00 you can get a box that is jam packed with well over $100.00 worth of merchandise. I bought one last time they were selling them and I was truly blown away by how much was in the box. It contained tons of paper and we all know how beautiful their paper is. It also had ribbons, trims, flowers, embellishments and much, much more. Here's the site if you would like to buy one or two or three or..... Webster's Pages

Challenge #43 at Lia Stampz. Theme is "Anything Goes"

We are getting ready to say goodbye to the house that we saw being built from the ground up. This is where our children grew up, so it is bittersweet that we are leaving it. We have a lot of fond memories inside this house but we've also some pretty rough times as well. We are almost empty nesters as our 2 sons have left and are living on their own. Our daughter will be with us for possibly another year as she tries to pay down her student loans. After 2 years of university and 2 years at college, she has graduated with a diploma as a Social Services Worker. Congrats Sarah! As our lives change in a different direction, so do our needs. I plan to spend more time on my beloved hobby of cardmaking, with a touch of scrapbooking, papercrafting, altered objects just to name a few. For this reason we have looked for another house that has less bedrooms but more space for me to spread out and be able to pursue my passions. We also wanted to move to a different city, somewhere in the Niagara region and closer to the border so I can indulge myself in those over the border shopping trips. Joann's craft store and I are going to be on a first name basis! Here is my Design Team Project for Lia Stampz. This is Challenge #43 and the theme is Anything Goes. I have chosen to use "Moo" for my digital stamp and appropriately made a card to let friends and family know of our new address. Lia Stampz can be found at Whimsy Stamps If any of you would like to participate in this challenge, you may do so here: Lia Stampz

DCWV's June Stack - a - Holic Challenge

This was the sketch we were given to work from. I didn't change too much in the way of design, I basically kept it the same. I used the Lemon Flower Stack from DCWV. This paper pack has some gorgeous prints and colours in it. There are a few papers that would be considered 'fun' but to me the majority of the papers are elegant. So pretty!
Here's my take on the sketch.

Challenge #42 @ Lia Stampz; Add a Flower and Update

Here's my Design Team contribution for Challenge #42 at Lia Stampz. We were to add a flower anywhere on the card or project. I chose this adorable stamp to feature on my card. I don't own very many Copic markers as of yet so I did what I could to colour in this cute little image. Also as many of you know we are in the middle of moving from one city to a smaller town. The latest news on all of this is :WE SOLD OUR HOUSE! Yay! All those days of keeping the house looking like no one lives here are gone! We had the home inspection and that all went well so the papers are all signed and we are ready to move on to step 2; finding the perfect new house for us to live in. We have found a place and even put an offer on it with 3 conditions; that we sell our house, that we have a home inspection and that we get our financing in order. So far we've sold our house and need to meet the other two conditions. I will update as we know. For now, here is the card I promised to show you. If any of you are interested in joining the challenge you can find it here: Lia Stampz You can purchase Lia Stampz here: Whimsy Stamps
