Top 10 DCWV's October Stack-a-holic Challenge

I'm so excited to say that one of my cards was chosen as one of the Top 10 in #DCWV's October Stack-a-holic Challenge! This is my second time being chosen as one of the Top 10. One of my cards was chosen back in March of this year as well. #DCWV makes it easy with all of the beautiful papers that they make. Thank you so much for choosing my card...you've made my week! Here's a link to see all of the entries for scrapbooking layouts as well as the cards. Scroll down till you see my name listed under my card. It's the same card that was is a couple of posts prior to this one. DCWV's October Stack-a-holic Challenge Winners

Trash to Treasure Hutch

Since moving into the new house I've been trying to make my craft studio into a functional but pretty room. I have so much stuff that it's been a challenge to get things put away in a manner that is functional but pleasing to look at. Over the last year or two I've been purchasing anything that I thought I could use for storage because I knew that we'd be moving and would be looking at having either a bedroom or an area large enough that I could make it into a studio. I have collected and inherited a large amount of crocheted doilies and tablecloths as well as unfinished pieces. These I will use up on cards and layouts because I don't know how to crochet to finish them for myself, although I've been watching YouTubes to see if I can learn how to crochet. Anyway I wanted someplace nice to house and display my collection along with my growing collection of vintage hats. I came across an old beat up hutch at my local Salvation Army store for $50.00 and loaded it into my car and dragged it home, first stopping to pick up paint and supplies for the transformation that I was planning. Below are some before and after pictures. I simply wiped the 2 pieces down, getting rid of dust and cobwebs. I then sanded the pieces, just enough so the paint would have something to grab onto. I then gave it 2 coats of paint. I intended to sand the edges and give it that distressed and worn look but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. LOL I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.
